Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be married in high school? Well, Savana Moore is here to tell us. Moore is a 16 year old senior here at West Brunswick high school and is married to her husband Jacob Moore. Moore has been married since May 3, 2022. She met her husband through a mutual friend from his time in the band.

“A week or two after I added him [on Snapchat], he posted a video of him playing guitar on his story, so I slid up and said ‘woah you’re a really good musician,’ and he left me on read until the next day,” said Moore.

That interaction led to the beginning of Mr. and Mrs. Moore’s relationship a week later.  The couple had planned on getting married once Jacob Moore got back from Marine Corp Boot Camp, but with the persuasion of Savana’s mother, they got married before he left. The couple currently lives together with Savana’s parents, but plan to get their own apartment this November.

“I would not advise others to do the same,” Savana said. “Unless you are one-hundred percent sure and you know that’s who you want to spend the rest of your life with, don’t do it”.

Moore says being married at such a young age, you receive a lot of negativity and that “the stress can take a toll on you if you don’t know how to handle it.”

Moore says she doesn’t believe she is missing out on anything despite being married in high school.

“I just went a little faster than everyone else,” said Savana. “I’ve had the same experiences that other people have had.”

Moore says being married at a young age is a very difficult thing, but it can also be amazing. Moore says she has enjoyed getting to start this part of her life early.
