John DeStefano is a senior this year at West Brunswick. He is also dual-enrolled at Brunswick Community College to challenge himself more and get a head start on his future. DeStefano participates in varsity lacrosse and is the vice president of DECA. He is very passionate about DECA and has learned a lot about business over his four years as a member. This inspired him to start up his own company, J&L Maintenance.
“I spend my time managing and running my own business,” said DeStefano. “I have an outdoor property management company on Holden Beach, North Carolina where I clean and maintain the exteriors of rental beach house properties.”
Running a business while being a high school student is a challenging task, but DeStefano manages it exceptionally, and it has turned out to be a really rewarding experience. After high school, he plans to keep expanding his business, focusing on building his entrepreneurial resume.
“I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit and always hated the idea of working nine to five at a cooperation,” said DeStefano. “I plan to go to college, get my degree, keep running my business, and hopefully open up a couple more and overall just try to make it.”
