Olivia Hewson, Junior at West Brunswick high school, is 16 years old and was born in Stony Brook, Long Island, NY and was raised in Holbrook, New York, where she made many unforgettable memories with friends and family.

“I loved riding around on my bike with my friends; we would go to this pizza place called Joes and sometimes get boba and ice cream from local shops. It was really fun. I would also spend summers and holidays in queens with family.”

Hewson loved New York, the scenery, the walks around town, taking the trains and busses to different destinations, and the many different things in the city.

“I loved that you could walk everywhere. Also, there's a lot of public transportation, like buses and trains, which I like. It was just really fun. There are a lot more things there than there are here.”

Hewson enjoys spending her free time listening to music, hanging out with her boyfriend, and going on TikTok. Some of her favorite things are sushi, the icerink, Tame Impala, and Mac DeMarco, and she has recently been enjoying Tyler, the creator’s music.

“My favorite food would probably be sushi, I love sushi, and when it comes to music, I'm I’m really into Tame Impala and Mac DeMarco, but I've also been getting into Tyler the creator recently; I just really love his vibe.”

Hewson plans on going to college after high school but isn't sure what major she will be taking or the college she will be attending, but she does know that after college, she wants to travel and live in many different places.

“I would like to travel after college and move to a bunch of different places but live there for three months at a time to get a feel for the place.”

Hewson joined the West Wind last semester and became interested because you could do many things that are based on your own interest; also, It is a great opportunity to inform people about important things going on in society.

“I wanted to join the West Wind because it just genuinely seemed like a fun class also, I would be able to write about things that I was interested in and just inform people about things that are going on in the world.”
