The new Chick-Fil-A was built on Highway 17, they started building it around April 2020 and the estimated grand opening will be in October 2021. The question is, will it benefit us or hurt us?
Chick-Fil-A is known for it’s customer service and it’s fast service, they take pride in training their employees with Christian based values and are closed on Sundays to give employees the day to spend with their families.
“We should be about more than just selling chicken,” founder of Chick-Fil-A, S. Truett Cathy said, “We should be a part of our customers’ lives and the communities in which we serve.”
“I’m excited to be an employee there because it’s been my favorite fast food restaurant since I was 8 years old,” said sophomore Victoria Robinson. “The other employees are always very respectful and kind to others.”
Victoria thinks that with Chick-Fil-A being on the side of U.S 17 that there will be a lot of traffic backed up to the highway and cause possible collisions.
”I think it will benefit us because it is adding more food options and restaurants to Shallotte and making it more popular on the map,” said Robinson. “It would hurt us because of where they put the Chick-Fil-A.”
Sophomore, Kaylien Ouellette said that she thought it would hurt us instead of benefiting us.
“I think it will hurt us because it’s going to cause big time traffic back up and take away customers from other fast food places and restaurants in Shallotte,” said Ouellette. “They should have put it in the Coastal Walk shopping center to avoid any traffic back up on Highway 17. “
Ouellette plans on applying to become a new staff member at Chick-Fil-A because she loves the work environment they have every time so goes to the fast food restaurant.
”I am planning on applying to work there soon,” said Ouellette. “Every time I go to get food, they are always so kind and helpful, especially to each other.”
Chick-Fil-A coming to Shallotte will benefit everyone who always cant drive 45 minutes to go get Chick-Fil-A because it will be local.
