Quick & Easy Breakfast Food Ideas

Bella Little, Broadcast Director

If you are anything like me, you know the struggles of finding the time in the morning to make breakfast. I always feel like I am running late and never have enough time to eat, but I know the importance of breakfast for starting my day. Below are six ideas for when you’re running short on time and long on appetite.

Smoothie

This breakfast drink has always been my go-to. Smoothies are healthy and sweet, with endless combinations to ensure you are never bored. To make a smoothie: add any liquid to your blender. I typically use orange juice or unsweetened almond milk but you could use any other kind of milk, fruit juice, or even just water. Add frozen fruit and vegetables. If you are adding spinach or other greens, this is the time to throw those in as well. Next, (this is optional) add nutrition mix-ins, such as: collagen, protein powder, turmeric, and chia seeds. Blend and enjoy!

Bagel

Bagels are about as simple as they come: slice, toast, and spread. Some top toppings are butter, cream cheese, peanut butter, egg, jelly, fruits, meat, veggies, and more. I’m partial to a cinnamon bagel with cinnamon cream cheese.

Yogurt w/ Granola and Fruit

This breakfast food is a delicious, healthy meal to start your day. It only adds about two minutes to your day to dress up your yogurt with granola and fruit of your choice. I personally like Greek yogurt, strawberries, honey, and granola.

Bacon + Egg + Cheese Sandwich

This sandwich is super yummy and so simple to make. First you’re going to want to cook your bacon and eggs, then you add it to bread. You can toast your bread, or just leave it. Lastly, you can also add toppings such as lettuce, tomato, or mayo. To speed up your morning, precook the bacon the night before.

Omelette

If you have a little bit more time, an omelette may be the breakfast for you. Omelettes have many fillings you can add to them, some classics include: shredded cheddar or Gruyere cheese, sour cream, diced ham, crisp bacon, sautéed mushrooms, bell peppers or tomatoes, caramelized onions, fresh herbs or you can even add in some leftovers from last night’s dinner. You first should prepare the filling, then crack your eggs into a non-stick pan, add the filling on top; let the egg cook and then fold half of it over into a taco looking shape. Plate your omelette and enjoy!

Avocado toast

If you are a fan of avocado, I’m sure you would like this open sandwich. It consists of toast topped with smashed avocado, salt, and pepper. You can add other toppings such as a fried egg, cucumber, dill, tomato, onions, bacon, mozzarella balls, salmon and much more. This popular breakfast has the potential to be super healthy, considering it is full of healthy, unsaturated fats packed with fiber.
