Taylor Swift, a pop icon, got her start at a very young age. Soon after her family moved to Nashville, Tennessee, Swift found herself signed with a record label at the young age of 16. The young singer/songwriter released her first song, titled “Tim McGraw, in June of 2006. This song stayed on the Top 100 Country Music Songs chart for 20 consecutive weeks. Having such a major hit, her album Taylor Swift released the following October of 2006. Taylor Swift became the second most sold country album of all time. This gave Swift a leap into the music industry.

Swift started strong in the country music industry, but changed her genre to pop with the release of her album Red. Many fans were disappointed with the change while some viewed it as long overdue.

Through the years, all of Swift’s releases have been top hits. She has grown in popularity, outselling the most reputable of musicians. Swift’s career has taken many turns, dissents with other celebrities and changes in music genre.

Her new album, Reputation, rumored to be released in November, this year has many fans curious of her new “edgy” side. After releasing her single “Look What You Made Me Do” had a new compared to Swift’s last two albums. Many fans had mixed feelings, some saying it sounded cliché. Many fans suspected the song was written about Kanye West and was for a feud that was long over and forgotten about.

Bringing another genre change is a risky decision. Swift’s change from country to pop went smoothly, and fans seem supportive of Swift’s most recent changes, but her success can not be determined until Reputation hits the market. Taylor Swift’s many metamorphoses have worked in the past, bringing her into a musical idol with a career others in the music industry dream of, being.
