Trojan Athletes Volunteer at the For Kids Only Fall Festival

Nov 9, 2022

On Friday, October 28th some Trojan athletes decided to help volunteer at the For Kids Only Child Development Centers Fall Festival. This year marked the 21st annual For Kids Only Fall Festival. This year was the first time in 21 years that For Kids Only faced unfortunate weather. But the West Brunswick volunteers weathered the storm and helped run games at the Fall Festival. Student-Athletes from the Football, Cheer, and dance teams all came out to help the Fall Festival run smoothly.

The fall festival included many hand made games, a bounce house, a pumpkin decorating contest, a hay ride, and a grilled lunch! Even the Shallotte police and firefighters came out to support the fall festival. Even though the day was hindered by the unfortunate weather, all the For Kids only students had a blast. Most children were dressed up in cute costumes to get into the Halloween spirit. The West volunteers each helped run individual games for the students to play. The Shallotte Fire Fighters each handed out plastic fire helmets to the kids.

For Kids Only Director Heather Coley is thankful for the extra help from the volunteers this year. Coley can’t wait for next year’s annual fall festival.

“After 21 years of this wonderful event this was the first time it rained but we still had a good time!” said Coley, “Thank you to our FKO staff, Shallotte Fire Department, Shallotte Police Department West Brunswick High School Athletes, TNT inflatable rentals, all of our wonderful staff and families.”
