You decide that you’re gonna stop by a fast food restaurant to grab a bite to eat for breakfast, what is the first food item that appeared in your head? If it wasn’t hashbrowns, then you’re probably lying, and you need to rethink your morning-breakfast decisions. If it was, then thank you for your honesty. Hashbrowns. A world renown favorite, crispy, fried, greasy shredded potatoes, it can’t be better than that. The most important question however is where you will be buying them from. Below is a list of Hashbrowns as well as my personal ratings!
Bojangles
Starting off strong, Bojangles’ hashbrowns, better known as “Bo-Rounds’ ‘ are a fan favorite, being large, round, and crispy potatoes. Whether they are extra crispy or paired with a dipping sauce of your choosing, (I eat them by themselves) there is no way to mess them up. What makes them different from their competitors is the added onion that adds much flavor to your morning.
10/10
McDonalds
The McDonalds hashbrown is a cult classic, nearly everyone has had a hashbrown from McDonalds. They come in a typical patty form and are usually pretty crispy. When this hashbrown is nice and hot it serves as a great option, however, if you eat it after it’s been sitting for a while, it might be too stale to fully recommend.
6/10
Hardee’s
Not everyone is aware of the hidden gem known as the Hardee’s hashbrown, “Hash Rounds”, round like a “Bo-Round” but miniature. They are tiny, bite-sized hashbrowns that make a wonderful crunch when they are nice and crispy. Despite rarely eating Hardee’s “Hash Rounds” they still remain a wonderful option to begin your morning.
7/10
Chick-fil-a
Similar to the Hardee’s “Hash Rounds” these hashbrowns come in tiny round wheels of potato. Chick-fil-a hashbrowns are simple but still very good. They do what a hashbrown is supposed to do. Crunch when you bite, with all the potatoey goodness on the inside. While not the best hashbrowns I’ve had, they are there to do the job of satisfying the need of a breakfast potato.
6/10
Wendy’s
Wendy’s version of a breakfast potato differs from other breakfast places, because of their lack of hashbrowns and instead, “seasoned potatoes.” Why would I put a non-hash brown on a hash brown rating article? Simply to bring light to the situation, so that maybe Wendy’s will make a change. Despite all of the negative reactions towards the “seasoned potatoes,” they are actually not that bad. Only when they are hot, however, any other time I would be wary. They are thin, almost fry like potatoes, mostly relying on their crunch for any satisfaction.
2/10
At the end of the day, not all potatoes are created equal. Despite this, they still often manage to become the most enjoyable element of any breakfast menu.
