On Tuesday, October 8th, the leadership class visited their first feeder school of the semester. The class has deemed these trips as one of their “passion projects” because they have taken notice of the need for leadership examples to be shown to our future Trojans.
Before departing from the school, the class met up outside of leadership teacher Anna Saunders room to gear up in Trojan apparel and disperse name tags that included the students grade level and the clubs, sports, and other activities that they were involved in. All before making their way to the activity bus at the end of flex block to head to Supply Elementary.
When the leadership class arrived at the school, they were taken into the cafeteria as the first grade students were finishing up their lunches. Every leadership student spread throughout the cafeteria and sat with the students, asking things like their names, what grade they are in, and learning different things about their school day and some of their interests.
Between lunches, the leadership class assisted the custodians in wiping down the tables, collecting trash and sweeping up as the new group of students made their way down to the cafeteria.
As each lunch passed through, all the elementary school kids and leadership students grabbed either their packed lunch or the provided lunch from the cafeteria of taco pizza or peanut butter and jelly. Both groups of students sat together and carried on many different conversations like “what’s for lunch?” and “do you play any sports?” The groups getting to learn something about each other made for a lively lunch.
With the leadership classes’ time coming to an end, they waited on the last group of students to get to lunch so they could introduce themselves before having to get back onto the bus and make it back to West Brunswick to beat the bell for fourth period.
