On Tuesday, Oct 15, 2024, the West Brunswick Varsity Boys Soccer team went against Topsail High. The game began with high energy as both teams traded possession, looking for early chances. In the 20th minute freshman Marlon Leon scored a well-placed shot putting them at 1-1. Their celebration was short-lived, however, as the opposing side quickly equalized just moments later with a combination that split the defense.
As the first half drew to a close, the Topsail pirates regained the lead from a corner, where a towering header found the back of the net, making it 2-1 at halftime. With Topsail pressing aggressively, and continuing to pile on pressure, the trojans defense stayed strong and were able to secure the second goal made by junior Henry Phillips.
Although West Brunswick lost 3-2 against Topsail, the trojans varsity soccer team put their all into a close game against a 4A team.
