On Friday, December 6th, the girl’s varsity basketball team played against Trask High School in their sixth game of the season. West Brunswick double-trancored with a final score of 47-24.
The game was an easy game for the Lady Trojans from start to finish, with both teams giving it their all to come out on top. The atmosphere in the gym was very loud, with the student section cheering and screaming with each basket made and every defensive stop.
Once it hit 6:00 pm the Trojans and the Titans stepped on the floor ready to go. The ref throws the ball up and they’re off. By the end of the first half the score was favoring the Lady Trojans; they headed into the third quarter leading 31-4.
Leading in the 3rd quarter the Lady Trojans were still on a roll even though they weren’t scoring but playing good defense and having a few time outs to discuss the game plan. One of the most noticeable players throughout the night was senior Jahyra Mastry. Scoring 14 pts in this game, Jahyra Mastry had one of his best performances of the night. Ending the 3rd quarter score was 31-6.
After having a few minutes to communicate before the start of 4th quarter, and taking a break, both teams came back to the court ready to play. With the Trojans determined to keep the lead. The last quarter began with West getting possession and scoring the first points of the quarter half. Trask never gave up and played a hard game.
As the final buzzer sounded, the Trojans gathered and celebrated their amazing win. The coach praised the players for their hard work, reminding them that this was just the beginning of what promises to be a successful season. The fans erupted in screams and claps, supporting the team and heading off to a good season.
