On December 10th, 2024 students of the school’s dance classes were given a night to show off their hard work and talent from this semester. Many supporters of the dancers like proud parents, little siblings, family, and friends came to watch the show. As the lights dimmed, the audience sat in anticipation for the student dancers to bring life to the stage. From contemporary to hip hop there were all sorts of dances done at the recital to showcase the student’s different skills and strengths.
The concert started with the “Grove Street Party,” performed by the WBHS Dance Team and choreographed by NDA. The dance team showed off impressive stunts and spins, which captivated the audience and created a great and fun start to the show. Next, a performance, “You Broke,” was choreographed by Mckenleigh Popejoy and performed by Popejoy, Madison Klutz, Chloe Torres, and Autumn Young, which brought a fun hip-hop group dance into the recital and consisted of some popular tiktok songs and dances. After this, there was the performance “Loose Control” by the 1st-period class done in flowy, eye-catching dresses. Later in the evening, there was a performance done by the 2nd period to “One Kiss” starring the only boy in the recital, Jacob Rumsey. Then followed by “Us,” a solo performed by Sloane Sauls with an emotional tone choreographed by Lonni Olsen. Next, “Get Silly” was performed and choreographed by Teagen Cossey, JaNaih Davis, Za’Riah Griffin, Lexi Long, and Shakina McCracken, which made the audience go in awe at the sharp dance moves and humorous tone.
“Burn” was then done by the 3rd period, performed in sparkly, sequined, and red dresses, they also earned a round of applause at the repeated turns and leaps. After an intermission, there was a follow up of “Jingle Bell Rock” choreographed by Lilly Madibo and Christina Torres and Jazmine Roberts, performed by 1st period and some special guest performers which created a holly jolly atmosphere. “Dive” was then performed by 2nd period which was followed by “Set Fire to the Rain” choreographed by Brooklyn Williamson and performed by Syndney Sauls. This was followed by “Show You How to Burlesque” preformed by some students from 1st period. After the SMS team mix there was a WBHS Elite Team performance followed by the last performance of the night “Do It” choreographed by Luma Rosa and Kaleela Taylor performed by 3rd period.
After a round of applause for each group, the night ended with rewards being given to the 3 class periods for different accomplishments and hardships that they have overcome. Ms.Pittman then gave her goodbyes and affection to the Seniors in the classes along with calling them up and giving them roses. This brought the community together once again leaving the audience with excitement to the next years show as always.
