On March 7th, Our varsity Trojan’s baseball team took a stellar win over the Clinton Dark Horses leaving the score to an amazing 9-0 victory. The game took place on a cold friday evening at the Trojan’s home base. The Trojan’s immediately took control once they stepped on the diamond. Their offense was the only thing keeping the fans fired up on the chilly night. Junior Cooper Wilson did an oustanding job pitching. He threw a remarkable seventy-eight pitches. As well as Connor Wilkerson stepping in to contributing thirty-six pitches. In total they both threw one- hundred and fourteen pitches. The Trojan’s were relentless all the way through ending at the top of the seventh inning. In the first inning they scored four runs. As well as the 2nd inning they also scored four runs. Leaving the Trojan’s in the lead for the first and second inning with a score of 8-0. The score was 0-0 in the third inning. However the Trojans did score one more run in the fourth inning. That left the score at 9-0 with the Trojan’s in the lead. Both teams played for three more innings with no one scoring any runs. This left the Trojan’s to take their third lucky win of 9-0. The victory not only highlights the Trojan’s current ablilities but also sets a high standard for their games to come. As the season progresses, fan’s, coaches, and players will be eager to see if the Trojan’s can maintain this level of preformance that will continue their winning streak.

Jaylynn Barron, Fundraising and Community Outreach Manager
Jaylynn Barron is a 16-year old junior currently in her third semester of Journalism. Barron was born in Supply, North Carolina and raised in Varnumtown.
Barron is currently a varsity cheerleader. She is the Vice President of Civic Outreach and Engagement for Juniorettes, an active member of key club and in National Honor Society. Her favorite things include spending time outdoors, going to country concerts, hanging out with friends and cheering at sports games.
“My proudest moment was getting inducted into the National Honor Society,” said Barron.
Barron’s dreams are to attend college at North Carolina State University and possibly become a teacher or a hunting guide and travel to different states. Her love for helping others and the outdoors has inspired her to chase these dreams.
“I would really love to get to travel the world and get to go on some once in a lifetime hunting trips,” said Barron. “However my heart still has a passion to help others and be in the classroom.”
Photography was what interested her to become a part of the West Wind. Barron’s interests have not parted far from last year. Her love for photography has grown, and she enjoys taking pictures at sports events and wildlife.
“Being behind the lens gives me a whole different perspective,” said Barron. “To me photography is a form of expression to show how you view the world.”
Her hopes for this year are to dive deeper into personal stories and grow her personal photography account.
