On Tuesday March 11, West was on the way to play Jacksonville team, White Oak. It was a long drive for the team over two hours on a slow activity, but the game sure wasn’t.
The game was quick, filled with speed, fast passes, shots after shots, save after saves, from all ends of the field. Yet the game ended in a tie.
The first half was rough on our part. The ball was not ending up in the back of the net, passes were not completed, and fouls took place. Our chemistry was all out of whack, but unfortunately for us White Oaks was not.
White Oak completed two goals in the first half, the first one on a corner quick in which so much commotion at the net caused the goalie to lose track of the ball. The second goal was a contribution of players not tracking back and the goalie losing the ball in the sun. Yet by the second half we were back in the game.
After receiving a stern talk at halftime West knew they had to wake up. They went back onto the field ready to school some goals. The first goal scored on a free kick by captain Sadie Jones, then quickly after Jones scored another goal.
While the outcome was not as hoped for, West still came out with a tie. We wish the girls the best of luck as they continue their twenty-twenty five season.
