Lip-Sync for a Cure

Apr 20, 2018

On Monday, March 26, staff and students hosted a school wide lip-sync competition featuring performances from Coach Ty Johnson, Mr. Paschal, Chance Smith, and more to support Relay for Life. Mrs. Chellie did the bulk of the organizing with help from Deiona Stanley, Mr. Ball and several others.

When the show was all said and done Mrs. Vaught’s fourth period class collected the Showstopper Award for their soulful rendition of “My Girl”  by the popular 1960s vocal group The Temptations. Ms. Barefoot’s fourth period class won the Audience Choice Award for their galactic space-themed performance to a mash-up of music from “Space Jam,” “Star Wars,” “Men in Black,” etc. The student group Italian Productions which was comprised of Lincoln Smith, Gianni Donatelli, and TJ Scinto took home The Bust-a-Move Award for their rendition of “Hips Don’t Lie” by Shakira ft. Wyclef Jean, which seemed to have everyone dancing in their seats.

The evening came to a close with guest speaker and cancer survivor Tanya Jackson, who shared her story and gave the audience a sense of how the funds donated at the Lip-Sync competition went to the American Cancer Society through Relay for Life and would benefit many people battling with cancer.
