On Tuesday, April 1, Parents and kids made their way to the stands excited to see which team will come up on top in the end. Everyone was getting hot before the game even started, and once the Trojans made their way onto the field to get some practice, as the game against Topsail was about to begin.
Both teams’ starting players made their way onto the field after the announcements, beginning the first quarter. The Trojans kept their ground against Topsail for the beginning of the quarter, but later Topsail’s attackers were slipping through their defenders and scoring goals. The first quarter ended with Topsail leading 5-0, setting a strong lead for the rest of the game.
The Trojans knew that they had to change their tactics, so their defenses tightened and the midfielders were able to control the pace of the game. Even with the new set up the Trojans were not able to get any points against Topsail this quarter, ending the second quarter 8-0.
The Trojans had been giving it their all out on the field and deserved a break, so once the second quarter was over they got to go over different strategies and who would start in the third quarter.
Once their halftime break was over both teams ran out onto the field, eager to start the third quarter. Topsail was pushing the Trojans back to their net, relying on their defense to push them back and for the goalie to block the shots. The Trojans would make fast shots to Topsail’s net, but would not be able to get past their defenses. At the end of the third quarter the score was 14-0, leaving the Trojans with one last quarter to score a point.
The Trojans were ready for their final quarter against Topsail, with each player giving it their all, but in the end they could not get a point on the bored. Ending the game with a final score of 18-0.The Trojans might have lost this game, but at least they all had fun playing with each other and showed great determination to not give up.
