On Thursday, April 16, It was going to be an exciting showdown between West and Topsail. People in the stands were getting pumped as both teams made their way out onto the field.
The game begins with our midfielders battling hard for possession, but cannot maintain control against Topsail. The Trojan’s defense was facing relentless pressure, making the entire team come and help them stop Topsail from scoring points. Topsail’s offense proved too difficult for the Trojans to contain, making the score for the first quarter 3-0.
When the first quarter ended the Trojans knew that they had not yet scored any points against Topsail, but the team grouped up for halftime and they knew that they were going to need a way to break through Topsail’s defense and get through their midfielders. Once the Trojans got to rest and go over their strategies, it was already time for the last quarter to begin.
The Trojans knew that this was their last chance to make up for the points that they did not have last quarter, so they went out onto the field with determination to win. They were able to make it to Topsail’s net, but their defenders would not let them make a shot.
The pressure would not decrease because Topsail was still pushing us back to our net, not allowing our defenders to rest. Topsail began extending their lead, but our players never gave up and kept pushing forward. In the end, the game ended 9-0 and it might have been a tough game for the Trojans, but they can learn from their loss and come back stronger in the next game.
