5/9 EC Prom

Savannah Robinson, Event Coverage Coordinator and Equipment Manger

On May 9th during third and fourth period the EC class held their prom made by the leadership class in the Aux gym. The theme was candy land. Their was candy, pizza, and a photo booth for the prom. Just like prom there was a dance floor and the students danced their heart out on the dance floor with all their friends. They students also got to make a candy bag with all the candy that was there. Then at the end of the prom the leadership class gave out the crowns for the king and queen. Even though the prom had to end all the students and parents had a blast at prom.

Savannah Robinson, Event Coverage Coordinator and Equipment Manger

16-year-old junior Savannah Robinson is currently in her third semester of journalism and serving as the event coverage coordinator and the equipment manager. Robinson was born in Monroe, NC before relocating to Ash. She is a part of a softball team and was picked to go to the World Series for her recreational softball team in 2023. In the West Wind her first two semesters she was a staff writer and a broadcast director last semester,” said Robinson. “Being the broadcast director was stressful but it was a good experience.” This semester being the event coverage coordinator and the equipment manager she will be in charge of all the events that the students will be posting on the website. She will also be in charge of all the equipment that the West Wind has. “I am excited to do something besides broadcasting and still be in charge of something in the West Wind.” said Robinson. She has been playing softball since she could walk. Robinson also has been on the softball team here since her freshman year. In her free time in the future, she hopes she could coach the sport. After High School, Robinson plans on going to Gardner-Webb to get her teaching degree. “I want to teach special education at a preschool,” said Robinson. “In some schools, the people who need extra help can’t get it because they do not have the available staff.” Robinson was inspired to get her teaching degree when she saw that some kids were not getting the help they needed. If all goes according to plan, Robinson will continue to play softball in college.
