On Friday, September 5th, West Brunswick’s Varsity Football team traveled to North Myrtle Beach’s field to face the Chiefs. Fans packed the stands, full of anticipation, eagerly waiting for the 7:30 p.m. kickoff. The players were full of high energy and focus. As 7:30 struck, West Brunswick fans began to cheer and set the tone for an exciting rivalry.
The Trojans came out strong by putting points on the scoreboard with a touchdown in the first quarter. The game quickly became a back-and-forth battle while each team giving it their all. Trojans ended up missing a field goal leaving the score 10-6. Still, trojans had the lead going into halftime.
After a grand halftime experience full of dance, cheering, and music, the players returned to the field ready to finish the game strong. The Trojans started the third quarter on a high note, scoring another touchdown early on. Unfortunately, another missed field goal placed the score close at 17-12. The crowd remained engaged and supportive, cheering for every big play and stop.
As the final quarter began, the stadium’s tensions continued to rise. The Chiefs came out and scored early in the fourth quarter and again towards the very end of the game. Despite the Trojans’ effort and dedication, the final score landed at 24-12, marking West Brunswick’s first loss of the season.
The varsity Trojans remain focused while prepping for the rest of the season. With hard work and dedication, the Trojans will come back stronger than ever. We look forward to seeing what the rest of the schedule will bring and we wish them the best of luck moving forward.
