Are you guys ready for the spooky season? The season for fall, horror movies and Halloween? Well, get excited because the season is finally here.
Halloween is the most enjoyable holiday because of how creative and fun it can be. There are so many elements: costumes, decorations, sweet treats, scary activities, family traditions, movies and more. Let’s dive in and see what is creeping up on us this season.
Dressing Up
Many people love dressing up in costumes inspired by their favorite video game, movie or tv show. This year, many people will likely dress up as characters from new movies and TV shows. Wednesday, Strangers and Megan are some examples. People also love doing group costumes with friends and family. Scooby-Doo, Ghostbusters and Power Puff girls are some fun group costumes.
“I am dressing up as the Joker this year for Halloween because my boyfriend is dressing up as Batman.” said sophomore Bella Bullock.
Sweet Treats
Not only is Halloween just for dressing up, it’s also for all the candy and sweet treats you can get by going door to door and saying “trick or treat!” Lots of people love the sugary goodness, and chocolate. People’s favorite and most popular Halloween candy across the globe is M&M’s, Reese’s Snicker’s, Kit Kat’s, Haribo gummies and Toblerone.
“My favorite candy is Starburst because of all the fruity flavors they come in.” said sophomore Jazell Stanley.
What to Watch
Halloween is also most popular for the spookiness and scariness it brings. For example, many new horror movies are coming out this season. The most popular horror movie that came out so far is the new Conjuring movie, The Conjuring: Last Rites. Many people think this movie is the scariest movie they’ve ever seen.
“One of my favorite horror movies is Scream,” said sophomore Jamiya Homes. “I just like it because it’s spooky.”
What to Do
Other than going trick or treating and dressing up, there are lots of other activities and festive things people do on Halloween. Going to haunted trails is one of the most popular activities. You go with whoever you’d like and go through a mini maze while getting jump-scared by different props and people in costumes. Other activities include visiting a pumpkin patch, haunted hayrides and throwing parties.
“Out of all the Halloween activities, going to the haunted trail is my favorite,” said sophomore Emani Grissett. “You can go with friends and have fun.”
Whether it’s enjoyed for the thrill or for all of the sweet treats and candy you can get, Halloween still remains a celebration for many people to have fun and get together.
“just know, as soon as the clock strikes 12am on October 31’st be ready for all the goblins and monsters”!
