On Thursday, September 18th, the West Brunswick Junior Varsity Volleyball team played the Laney Buccaneers, although this is their second time playing them. The West Brunswick Trojans came in ready for the court.With years of rivalry, the teams are face-to-face practicing, ready for the game.
This is West Brunswick’s second time playing Laney this year having lost to them the previous match on their territory. The Trojans are still ready to start off strong. Starting off the match, Laney has the first hit, but sophomore Tameya Thomas gets the first point of the game on Laney. This gives the Trojans a great start, giving them the motivation they need for this match. You can feel the determination in the room, each set coming with power and hard work with Ten minutes into the game, the score is 9-12. The Buccaneers are in the lead, the score stayed a couple of points apart. As the buzzer beeps for the first set of the match the score is 14-25. Sadly the Trojans lost by 11 points. The Trojans go together in a huddle talking about the game and what they need to do hoping for a better set the next match. As they are together, Coach Olivia Scott speaks to them to motivate the team hoping for a better set in the next match
Starting off into the second set the Trojans have the first hit Freshman Paislee Wilson hits it over the net and gets the first point. The score stays close the Trojans are hungry for the win you can feel the energy in the court the trojans are picking up their pace but its a tough match with a minute break the trojans huddle up while Coach Scott gives a pep talking hyping up the girls and discussing strategies telling them what they need. With four points separating them the buccaneers are in the lead The court is loud the Buccaneers are on a hot streak getting point after point the Trojans haven’t given up they keep the energy loud trying their best to get a comeback but unfortunately the game ends with Laney beating the West Brunswick 25-17 the game was a tough match but both teams fought till the end trying their hardest to get the win.
