On Thursday October second, the West Brunswick Trojans faced a tough battle against The North Brunswick Scorpions at home. In the first half of the ball game the Trojans were not executing their blocks very well. This led to them failing to finish their drives. With eight minutes left to go in the first quarter the Scorpions had succeeded to score a touchdown. They also received the kick following the touchdown. With five minutes left to go of the first North managed to score another touchdown. This left the score thirteen to zero ending the first quarter. During the second half the Trojans managed to figure out how to drive down the field and finish their drives. However scoring was not in their favor for the second quarter. In the fourth quarter the Trojans scored two touchdowns and received two kicks following the touchdowns. The scorpions ended up making one more touchdown to end the fourth quarter. This left the final score of nineteen to fourteen with the Scorpions winning the game. The Trojans did not let this loss stop them. They will learn from their mistakes and practice harder. Their determination and drive will help them execute their blocks and learn to drive down the field. The Trojans will come back ready to fight and win next Thursday at New Hanover.

Jaylynn Barron, Fundraising and Community Outreach Manager
Jaylynn Barron is a 16-year old junior currently in her third semester of Journalism. Barron was born in Supply, North Carolina and raised in Varnumtown.
Barron is currently a varsity cheerleader. She is the Vice President of Civic Outreach and Engagement for Juniorettes, an active member of key club and in National Honor Society. Her favorite things include spending time outdoors, going to country concerts, hanging out with friends and cheering at sports games.
“My proudest moment was getting inducted into the National Honor Society,” said Barron.
Barron’s dreams are to attend college at North Carolina State University and possibly become a teacher or a hunting guide and travel to different states. Her love for helping others and the outdoors has inspired her to chase these dreams.
“I would really love to get to travel the world and get to go on some once in a lifetime hunting trips,” said Barron. “However my heart still has a passion to help others and be in the classroom.”
Photography was what interested her to become a part of the West Wind. Barron’s interests have not parted far from last year. Her love for photography has grown, and she enjoys taking pictures at sports events and wildlife.
“Being behind the lens gives me a whole different perspective,” said Barron. “To me photography is a form of expression to show how you view the world.”
Her hopes for this year are to dive deeper into personal stories and grow her personal photography account.
