Pop culture has a huge impact on everyone’s life. In today’s day and age, you see it everywhere, like in trends, the outfits you wear, singers, and anyone in entertainment.
Celebrities are always in the public eye; you always know what’s going on in their life. Singer Taylor Swift recently got engaged to Travis Kelce, a Kansas City Chiefs football player. They have been dating for over two years and just recently got engaged. Taylor Swift has many hits, some of her most popular songs being about love, all hitting the top 100 on Billboard.
“I love Taylor Swift’s music,” said sophomore Ilia Kost. “I’ve been listening to her for years. I really think she’s over-hated, and I love her and Travis Kelce together; they match so well.”
Music has been popular for years, with new artists being recognized for their talents. Every couple of years, a new genre of music comes along. Hip hop, R&B, jazz, and rap– the list goes on. Music helps people in many ways, whether it’s through expressing themselves or helping them cope with things.
Many artists are trending right now and going on tours. The Weeknd was recently one of them.
The Weekend started his career in 2010, with his first #1 hit being “Can’t Feel My Face.” Many people know of him and enjoy his songs and concerts. The weekend also has an acting career most people don’t know about, his most popular role being in the HBO series The Idol.
“I’ve been listening to The Weekend since around middle school. He’s one of my favorite artists,” said sophomore Cayleb Ingold. “My favorite song of his is The Party and After Party, and I’d love to go see them in concert.”
Other than music artists, the next biggest stars are actors. They’re what make a movie good and make the story. One of the biggest shows right now is “The Summer I Turned Pretty”, a show about a girl caught up in a love triangle between two brothers. There are three books about it. Around four years ago, the show was made getting more popular by the year just recently the final season came out. Many people want to know which brother she will end up with.
“I think that the show is a bit cringy, but they are teenagers figuring things out,” said sophomore Bella Bullock. “I’m definitely Team Conrad. I just think he’s the better brother and is what my belly needs. I think that she needs to make her mind up, but I would recommend people to watch it has a good plot and gives you something to talk about with other people.”
Pop culture is so important today it’s good to know what’s going on and it has a big impact, Pop culture is the soundtrack of our lives.
