Chase’s Catch Fishing Report: End of Summer
Oct 8, 2018
With Fall inching closer bringing cooler water temperatures, local fishing is bound to soon increase, with fish growing in size and swimming in larger schools. The only downside being more frequent rains pouring freshwater into the waterway scattering the fish out of some of the best spots. Along with the chance of bitter winter temperatures, dropping below freezing, thus killing off a large amount of the trout population, as it happened last year.
On my last trip out fishing before summer ended, two of my friends and I went out on a Charter with Local Captain Tripp Hooks. After fishing through Tubbs Inlet for about two hours, catching small Blue Fish, a couple of good size flounders and even a small Gag Grouper. This being surprising due to our location. Later we moved farther through the inter-coastal waterway where after a short fight I brought up a nice 24’’ Red Drum. Hoping to go out fishing again soon, before the upcoming hurricane kills fishing season for a couple of weeks.
