Lady Trojans Basketball: The Final Buzzer

3…2…1….buzzz, The final buzzer has sounded and the Varsity Women’s Basketball season has drawn to a close. The Lady Trojans season was filled with ups and downs, the team stumbled to an overall record of 4-21-0 and a conference record of 3-11-0.

 

On Valentine’s Day, the Lady Trojans were defeated by the school’s rival South Brunswick Lady Cougars by a score of  36-48. The team was later defeated by the Topsail Pirates in the first round of the Mideastern Conference tournament by a score of 42-64.

 

The Lady Trojans still have a lot of potential for next season, when this school year ends the team will only lose one senior, Dyna Jefferies the rest of the team will be comprised of rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors.

 

Senior, Dyna Jefferies took 8th place overall for free throws made and 14th overall for rebounding. Junior, Autumn Bland finished the season 7th in the conference for scoring averaging 9.7 PPG and 201 points in the 22 games she played this season. Bland also ranked 12th in the conference for rebounding and 5th overall for blocks. Freshman Jamelia Hill ended the season 12th overall for blocks and 9th overall for double-doubles. Sophomore, Alexis Dombrowski ended the season with 42 steals averaging 1.8 SPG and 57 assists averaging 2.4 APG. Freshman, Gracie Elmore not one to be forgotten had 22 3-Pointers made this season.
