Generation Z: Going back to Beauty Basics

In a world filled with electronics, plastic, and constant causes for pollution Generation Z is looking to cut back on their part of the growing concern. While many have already started using biodegradable products many are looking to go green in other ways.

Skin care is the growing green culture. We now see products offering labels stating no animal testing, no harsh chemicals, and plant based products. While the new trend helps pollution with many products being packaged in biodegradable containers, it’s also to stop pollution on your skin.

The beauty gurus, have become aware that placing chemicals on our skin everyday is having altering effects. After completing videos that challenge people to go without makeup for two weeks, many are seeing results with their skin breathing a sigh of relief. Less breakouts, hydrated skin, and youthful glows are common results. After going without the time consuming part of their morning routines, many are finding it hard to rush back to applying makeup each morning.

Due to these results many are spending their money on more luxurious skin products. Evening skin tone, fighting blemishes, and smoothness are what’s coveted most to have a natural look, like they just woke up and still look this good. Sunscreen, retinols, and serums are not only for the old now, but Generation Z is proving that prevention is the best cure.

These new products fit in well with the growing idea that beauty should be natural. Companies are advertising the, lit from within look, natural glow, and no-makeup, makeup looks, to increase their profit. More and more people are throwing out their full coverage foundations, and trying out light BB Creams.

Personally I feel as though this year I’ve gained a lot of confidence and don’t feel the need to wear as much makeup. Sure sometimes it’s fun to dress up and wear it, and some people may just like applying it everyday, but no one should feel the need to wear it, ever. To me confidence is the best thing anyone can apply, because no amount of makeup will cover your personality.
