The main reason people flood to Brunswick County is for its beautiful beaches. There is a whole other side to the county that only the locals seem to know about. In the fall and winter, deer hunting is a beloved sport locals participate in often. Hunting clubs are owned by people in the community and many join to engage in the fun.

The main types of hunting are still hunting and dog hunting. Still hunting is more of a way to hunt alone, while dog hunting requires a group. Still hunting most of the time takes place in a stand near a corn pile either early in the morning or near sunset while the deer are feeding. A few times a week hunters gather together early in the morning and plan out the hunt that can sometimes last all day depending on the tracks the dogs get on.
