Planners and calendars are some of the easiest ways to stay organized.

Organization can be a hard skill to master; however, it’s not impossible. There are plenty of ways to keep yourself organized on a daily basis. The key thing with organization is to do whatever works for you. Here are some of the things I do to help keep myself organized.

Planner:

A major method of staying organized for me is keeping a planner. This really helps to keep track of assignments and other personal activities that I do weekly. It can also be helpful to color code certain things in your planner. This way, if you need to check something quickly you know what color to look for. Planners are so helpful and can be really effective when it comes to staying on top of things. However, you have to keep up with it; don’t write stuff down and then skip a week of writing. Make it a habit to write stuff down and put it on paper–or even in a digital planner on your phone.

Calendar:

Another way to help you stay organized is to keep a calendar in your room or wherever you can look at it everyday. By keeping a calendar up to date, you see what your month will look like in advance. Seeing what you have planned can be very helpful in making sure things get done on time or that plans don’t overlap.

Clean Space, Clean Mind:

While being organized when it comes to planning is important, it is also important to be organized in your personal spaces as well. Having a clean and organized environment can help improve your productivity. Start by cleaning important things and then throwing away anything unnecessary. Once everything is clean, give stuff around you a “home.” Find a place to put everything and make sure that, whenever it gets moved, by the end of the day it ends up back in its home.

Commit to the System:

The last thing that goes into staying organized is making sure you keep up with your organization. Once you start to be on top of things, don’t stop! Keep up with your planners, write everything down, and don’t take a break from it. Make organization a habit, and soon it will become easy.
