Jayde Daley is a sixteen-year-old junior taking journalism for the first time. Daley’s curiosity for the class formed from seeing West Wind videos pop up all over her Tik-Tok for-you page. Daley was born and raised in North Carolina and has spent her years living by the beach.
“Hearing all my peers talk so highly of this class drew my attention, and I can’t wait for all of the different experiences I’ll get to have throughout this school year,” said Daley. “The community and Mrs. Saunders are a huge part of why I signed up for this class.”
Daley is always exploring new hobbies. Recently, she has taken up sewing and loves altering her own clothes, often using thrifted pieces to spark her inspiration. While she loves experimenting with new activities, she will always return to her original passions- reading and writing. journaling will never grow old for her, and Daley never will get tired of picking up a book to enjoy.
“I’ve always loved clothes, and design has always been something I’ve been interested in,” said Daley. “Thrifting always gives me ideas and helps with my creativity.”
Though creativity is a big part of her life, Daley’s top goal is to become a pediatric nurse. Her dream is to minister around the world, helping and inspiring as many people as she can.
“I’d love to be a pediatric nurse one day, I hope I can help kids from all over,” said Daley. “I have always loved kids and love to spend time with my younger siblings and my nephew. Also the pay is good so that’s always a plus. I’m not exactly sure what I’m going to do for schooling just yet–I’m gonna just leave that up to Jesus to decide.”
Adrenaline also fuels Daley’s personality. Living her life carefree she never passes up an opportunity to have fun. Sky diving is at the top of her bucket list, cliff jumping being next. Daley tries to make the best out of every moment. Her outlook is rooted in self- expression and living life unapologetically.
“You need to laugh uncontrollably with your friends, and enjoy every moment, soak up all the memories,” said Daley. “You have the most fun when you’re not worried about the lives going on around you- I’ve always believed that.”
