15-year old sophomore Jaylynn Barron is currently taking her first semester of journalism. Barron was born in Supply, North Carolina and raised in Varnamtown.

Barron is currently a junior varsity cheerleader. Her favorite things include shopping, hanging out with friends, going to country concerts and cheering at sports games. Barron says “my proudest moment was making the cheerleading team freshman and sophomore year.”

Barron’s dreams are to go to North Carolina State University and become an elementary school teacher. Her motivation for becoming a school teacher was actually one of her former teachers. Barron says  “my 8th grade math teacher Betsy O’hara inspired me to try harder in class and drive to become successful with her sweet words of motivation.”

Photography and sports journalism was what interested her to become a part of the West Wind. Her hopes for this semester are to learn more about photography and dive deeper into writing about the sports here at West Brunswick.
