Jaylynn Barron

Jaylynn Barron, Financial Manager

15-year old sophomore Jaylynn Barron is currently in her second semester of journalism. Barron was born in Supply, North Carolina and raised in Varnamtown.

Barron is currently a junior varsity cheerleader. She is also a member of Key Club. Her favorite things include shopping, hanging out with friends, going to country concerts and cheering at sports games.

“My proudest moment was making the cheerleading team freshman and sophomore year,” said Barron.

Barron’s dreams are to go to North Carolina State University and become an elementary school teacher. Her motivation for becoming a school teacher was actually inspired by one of her former teachers.

“My 8th grade math teacher Betsy O’hara inspired me to try harder in class and drive to become successful with her sweet words of motivation,” said Barron.

Photography and sports journalism was what interested her to become a part of the West Wind.
Barron’s interests have not parted far from fall semester. Her love for photography has grown and she enjoys taking pictures at football games.

“Being behind the camera gives me a whole new perspective of not only the game but also the connections between players on the field,” said Barron. “To me photography isn’t just taking pictures, to me they tell a story.”

Her hopes for this semester are to dive deeper into writing personal stories and capture unforgettable moments on camera.
