Jon Hewett is a 16 year old junior who was born in Charlotte, North Carolina and was raised in Holden Beach. Hewett likes to spend his free time playing with his dog, going to Cookout with friends, and practicing soccer. 

“I’ve been playing soccer for about five years,” said Hewett. “I love the sport, and I’ve made a lot of friends on the team.” 

Being a student-athlete isn’t the easiest, and Hewett decided to look into some unique and interesting courses. That’s when he thought of journalism. While Hewett hasn’t had experience in journalism before, he’s looking forward to testing the waters. He believes that storytelling skills can enhance his understanding of teamwork and competition. He hopes that this new venture will open up new avenues for creativity and self-expression.

“I remember someone interviewed me one time and then they told me it was for journalism,” said Hewett. “That sounded pretty cool to me, so I decided to sign up for this semester.”

After graduation, Hewett plans to attend a four-year university in Florida to pursue a degree in Aviation and Aeronautical Science.

“I really want to be a pilot,” said Hewett. “I’ve always wanted to see how it feels to be in the air.”
