Kearstin Herring

Kearstin Herring, Staff Writer

Kearstin Herring is a seventeen-year-old senior, not only is she a full-time student but she also makes time for extracurricular activities, such as: working on her future acting career, managing the volleyball team, and being an active team member in The West Wind, journalism class. Herring is working towards becoming a successful on-screen actress.

“I’ve wanted to act since I was five,” said Herring. “My grandpa and I used to reenact scenes from movies and shows, so that’s what really got me into acting to begin with.”

Not only is Herring an actress and sports manager, but she shares a love for reading and even working. Most students don’t love their after-school/ summer jobs, but Herring likes being able to have responsibilities and something to do. She works with her mother cleaning houses, where she learns how to run a business and how to be a hard-working woman.

“My mom runs her own cleaning business,” said Herring. “I have much respect for her because having your own business isn’t easy, I’m grateful I have my Mom to teach me important life skills that I can use in the future.”

Herring being an active member of the West Wind helps her with her leadership skills and writing skills. In journalism, she learns how to photograph live action photos, edit videos, write articles, and meet more of the student body.

“This class has created a lot of friendships that I will forever be grateful for,” said Herring. “I’ve also learned so many different skills and made many amazing memories. Being a senior I am sad to know that the second semester is my last.”
