Laiya Burris, Staff Writer
15 year old sophomore, Laiya Burris is taking her first semester of West wind. Burris was born in Laurinburg North Carolina though she moved to Calabash around four years ago going into 6th grade at Shallotte Middle School. Burris was thrilled to be moving closer to the beach.
“I love just laying at the beach with my friends,” says Burris.“ Getting tan and laying in the sand is relaxing.”
In her free time Burris likes to read books along with painting and play soccer. Burris plays for the West Brunswick Women’s soccer team. She has been playing since she was little and fell in love with it at a young age
“I love painting because you can just express how you feel through it. I’ve always loved drawing and just doing it when I don’t have anything to do. I’ve always been creative and love trying new things.”, Burris says.
After high school Laiya hopes to study psychology or criminology at ECU or NC state.
“Ive I have always been into crime shows and always thought it was interesting the way people do things and think I can’t wait to learn more about it ,” said Burris.
Burris has always been interested in the class once seeing its social media pages and once learning about all the different things you do in it she decided to join.
“ I found out about it on social media, I think it’s interesting. I love working together and trying new things. I’m looking forward to this class,” says Burris.
