Naya Trott, Staff Writer
Sixteen-year-old Naya Trott is taking her first semester in Journalism but has loved writing for a long time. Trott was born in Chicago, IL but was raised in Wilmington and surrounding areas. Trott has a 7-year-old little brother that she enjoys playing Minecraft with. She enjoys the feel of a smaller city and loves being near the ocean.
A member of the class of 26’, she likes reading and hanging out with friends. Her ideal meal would be a plate of injera, reminding her of her years in Chicago. Her favorite place is downtown Wilmington and she enjoys finding new community stores and small coffee shops. Her favorite coffee shop is Jumping Java where she often gets an absolute magic. Her favorite artists are Frank Ocean and Lana Del Rey.
Trott plans on attending undergrad at UNC and then attending law school at the University of Chicago. She has wanted to be a lawyer since the age of six and has always been interested in writing. Going into the semester with a positive attitude, Trott hopes to write impactful articles that move people.
Trott’s hope for this semester in the West Wind is to bring extra creativity and opinion pieces into the newspaper.
