Sadie Jones

Sadie Jones, Staff Writer

Sadie Jones is a sixteen-year-old junior who was raised in Cherry Grove, SC. Jones moved to Brunswick County in the 5th grade. This is her first semester in the journalism program. Jones enjoys visiting her family in Florida and if it’s warm out, she’s at the beach.

“I’m so glad I come from a beach family,” said Jones. “I could never imagine living in a place that’s not sunny and surrounded by the ocean.”

Jones has been playing soccer since she was five years old and is on the women’s varsity soccer team. During her school’s off season she plays for a travel team in Wilmington–she has been with them for six years. Jones drives an hour to practice three times a week and has games almost every weekend.

“Soccer has always been a big part of my life,” said Jones. “It’s given me so many fun opportunities and amazing friends.”

Jones loves listening to music anytime she can. Some of her favorite artists are Megan Moroney, Adele, and Chris Stapleton. She loves watching movies, her favorite film of all time is “Mamma Mia.” Outside of soccer, Jones enjoys shopping and hanging out with her friends.

“If I see something I want I’ll just buy it,” said Jones. “It’s a really bad habit and my parents are always on to me about it.”

Jones was first intrigued by the West Wind after seeing their videos online and hearing all of her friends talk about it. She is most excited to take photos and come up with fun ideas for the school’s social media. Jones has always loved writing and hopes to strengthen her skills. She plans on attending a four year university to major in sports medicine.

“I’ve always wanted to pursue a career around sports,” said Jones. “It’s what I love.”
