Taylor Hughes, Junior Copy Editor
Taylor Hughes is a 16-year-old junior, born and raised in Ash, North Carolina who is in her third semester of Journalism. She has learned so many new things throughout her time in the class and her passion is continuing to grow.
She first gained interest about the class her freshman year, when her friend Paige Levine interviewed her for the West Wind.
“I got interviewed about going to regionals for HOSA my freshman year and later asked my friend Paige what it was for,” said Hughes. “She then explained a little more about what they use the quotes for and what the class was all about.”
In her spare time, she enjoys playing pickleball, going shopping with her friends and hanging out with her mom. Hughes is also dedicated to cheerleading and this will be her second year on varsity. While also playing sports here at West, Hughes has also taken on responsibilities in the following clubs: HOSA, SGA, FCA, Juniorettes, National Honors Society and Key Club.
“I love being in clubs and sports here at West because it helps you meet new people, participate and get involved with your community,” said Hughes. “I’ve even met some of my best friends through cheerleading.”
Hughes has plans to attend Cape Fear Community College after high school and enroll in their medical sonography program. She later hopes to specialize in OB/GYN imaging.
“I have always wanted to go into the medical field,” said Hughes. “I just did more research this past summer on sonography and found it fits exactly what I can see myself doing in the future.”
