Tess Caron

Tess Caron, Staff Writer

17-year-old senior Tess Caron made the decision to join journalism in desire to be more involved in school events, help with photography, and spread awareness about certain occasions.

Tess was born in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and has lived in Calabash, North Carolina her whole life. She spends her free time soaking up the sun at the beach, shopping with friends, and going to concerts.

“I’ve always loved going to the beach and tanning with friends,” said Caron. “It’s always helped me to relax, and it is one of my favorite things to do on a day off.”

In Caron’s first semester in journalism, she hopes to attend more events for school and enjoy working with the friends she has in her class.

“Many of my friends have taken this class and have encouraged me to be more involved,” said Caron. “I’m so excited to see what this year will be like.”

Tess has swam ever since she was five years old and has immense passion towards it. She has been on the school’s swim team since her freshman year and is very excited to be a senior this year and step up as a leader for the team.

“Swimming has always pushed me to be a better version of myself,” said Caron. “It has shown me great discipline and sportsmanship.”

Caron is very passionate about music and has always loved finding concerts to go to. Any weekend she is free, she is searching for live music or tickets to see one of her favorite bands.

“The best concert I’ve ever been to is Cage the Elephant,” said Caron. “I went and saw them in Raleigh with my mom.”

After high school, Caron plans to attend a four year university (preferably at UNCW). She is hoping this class will teach her to be more involved and help her find out more about what she is passionate about.

“I’d like to attend a university at the beach and major in marine biology,” said Caron. “I’ve always been very passionate about helping our environment; living by the coast my whole life has shown me how much I long to keep our ecosystems healthy and beautiful.”
