18 year old senior Jacob Rumsey is in his second year in news journalism. Rumsey was born in Wilmington, North Carolina but grew up in New York most of his life. Rumsey loves to spend his time outside and trying new things. He is an extroverted student and loves meeting new people.

“Journalism was always my way of trying new things and just saying yes to the opportunities many people pass up on,” said Rumsey. “I feel like there's so many students that just let the time go by and I never want to let that happen”

Rumsey is the youngest of his siblings with one older brother and one older sister. While growing up he enjoyed playing in the snow with his siblings and starting snowball fights. While having fun beginnings he has big dreams for the future.

“I always dreamed of being an airline pilot. My father was a pilot in the military and we owned a small plane throughout my life,” said Rumsey. “Ever since I was a little dude I wanted to be up in the cockpit white knuckling the yoke.”

While being a pilot is far off from being a journalist, the friendly environment and welcoming atmosphere helped him reach out of his comfort zone and try new things.

“This year is going to fly by and I can not wait to tackle it before it’s gone”
