2017 Fall Sports Season

Ethan Reed Cross Country’s Notable Athlete

Cross Country

The cross country notable athlete is Ethan Reed nominated by Coach Caraway. Caraway described Reed as a well liked athletic individual.

When asked what cross country meant to him Ethan said, “It’s a very hard sport.  It’s where you always want to quit, but when you’re done finishing the race you are always very happy that you finished.  It’s a sport that puts you in great shape for other sports that you play throughout the year.”

 

Varsity Football

Coach Propst nominated Easton Simmons for The Varsity Football notable athlete. Propst said, “He is playing hurt and is delaying surgery so he can keep playing.”  

Easton commented, “Football is something I am passionate about and it teaches you life lessons.”

 

 

 

Varsity  Men’s Soccer

Coach Dominguez nominated Anthony Tapia for Varsity Soccer. Dominguez described Tapia as a “strong senior leader and an all around team player”.

Anthony admitted soccer is very important to him and stated,, “Soccer is a sport where you and your friends are more than family and you can learn something whether you win or lose.”

 

 

Varsity Volleyball

Coach Pardee experienced trouble nailing down which team player to nominate, but ultimately it came down to a decision between the seniors of the team. He decided, with difficulty, to go with one of his most dedicated seniors, Kesha Driggers.

Keisha’s reaction to being nominated for this honor was, “ Volleyball is hard work and you have to play as a team in order to succeed.”

 

 

JV Football

Coach Johnson nominated Tripp Hardee for the notable athlete of JV Football. When asked why, Johnson said, “Tripp will go in anytime you want him to and will run into a wall if you asked him.”

When asked why he plays football, Tripp said, “Never let size limit you.”

 

 

 

Varsity Cheer

Coach Kim Spencer of Varsity Cheer nominated Meghan McGuire, citing her great senior leadership ability.

When asked what cheerleading means to her, McGuire said, “Cheering is building new friendships and finding a way to have fun with each other and build school spirit at the same time.’

 

 

Women’s Tennis

The notable athelete for the Varsity Women’s tennis team was Rylee Jones, nominated by Coach Scott, due to her dedication, leadership abilty, and athleticism.

When asked why she decided to play tennis Jones cited her friendships with other members of the team such as Logan Locklear,  who is also her partner for doubles. Jones describes tennis as something that makes her feel good.

 

Dance Team

The nominee for dance team was Olivia Irvin, nominated by Nurse Kate, due to her distinguished leadership ability.

When asked why she  dances, Irvin said, “ Dance is really important to me I’ve done it all my life and it’s helped me through stressful situations.
