Before this season, many people may not have known there was a swim team at West. West had one of its best seasons yet, taking more kids to states than ever before and placing in the top eight for boys relay in the region.

Coach Fletcher was very proud of this year’s success as it set a new high for the team. She hopes to continue this success and keep growing the program.

“More swimmers is always a goal,” said Coach Fletcher. “Those existing swimmers need to get out there and promote the sport, we need numbers.”

Bailey Gentle, a first time swimmer, was pleased with how the season went but hopes to improve next season.

“I hope to make regionals next year then states after,” said Gentle. “Going to the meets was fun, energetic, and there was always something happening.”

Freshmen, Caroline Ruck was a standout swimmer, winning her event at regionals and making states. She hopes to improve by making states again and qualifying for the A finals.

“I think the whole team got better” said Ruck “it was really fun.”
