For their first away game, our JV team went to North Myrtle Beach High school. The feeling of being on someone else’s turf brings goosebumps and chills, but also brings hope and confidence to the team. Getting off the bus and walking on such a fancy expensive field gave them a great amount of motivation to take the win.
During warm ups, the captains from both teams were called to the middle of the field for the coin toss. Afterwards, the Trojans won and we got the ball first. Then both teams ran to their teams and joined them for the national anthem. The tension grew higher and higher and the song came closer to its end.
A long battle in the first half, with neither teams scoring at all. It was back and forth the whole time. The stakes were high with the hunger of bringing home their second win of the season. The team was letting up, they wanted to come back stronger.
Second half is where all the tension and goosebumps on everyone increased. Third quarter started and both teams were rejuvenated. Going almost the whole quarter with neither scoring, then at the end North Myrtle scored. The quarter ended with North Myrtle winning by only six points.
Running out to start on defense for the fourth quarter, the Trojans were on a mission not to let them score. After multiple runs from both teams, a run from the forty to the end zone created a tie in the game. Trojans scored and had to chance of winning. After not making the extra points the boys ended the forth quarter a tie and now had to go into overtime.
Unfortunately, after fighting hard, North Myrtle took the win by only eight points in overtime. The final score being 6-14. Although they lost, they haven’t taken it as a defeat. They are motivated and will continue to practice and win the rest of there games this season.
