As the Christmas time rolls around, many clubs are finding ways to gather together and celebrate the holiday season. The National Honors Society hosted its Christmas party on December 10th, 2024 after school. The event was hosted in the library and students were told to sign up to bring snacks and other goods for the party to share.
The students gathered in the library and started socializing immediately, speaking with their peers, sitting down their belongings, and settling down in their seats. Once everyone came into the library Lisa Chinn and Iris Reyes instructed students to get ready for a yearbook photo to be taken. The tallest people went into the back while the shorter ones approached the front. There was a brief struggle between all of the students trying to figure out how they would all fit into the photo, but, in the end, the picture was taken with all of the kids for the yearbook.
A few announcements were made by Chinn about upcoming meetings and about turning in service hours and then the kids were let off to gather their choice of food and to socialize with their peers. Many members enjoy the Christmas Party and see it as a good time to connect with their other NHS members outside of volunteering and mandatory informational meetings.
“My favorite thing about the Christmas Party is that I get to talk to the other members in a less serious setting then were usually put in.” said Junior Victoria Heady
The Christmas Party also fosters an environment for students to celebrate their accomplishments and the end of a semester before they have to take final exams. It is also used as a good way to talk to NHS leaders and ask them important questions about the upcoming semester and NHS events.
