On January 27th, the West Brunswick staff and students set up tables with information about classes and extracurricular activities.
The night of excitement started at four, and was to end at seven. This event allowed students, and their parents to walk around a few halls at west and get more information on any courses, programs or clubs they may have been interested in or had questions about.
This was especially a great night for some of the incoming freshmen so they could maybe ease some of the anxiety over coming to a new school, especially highschool.
The halls were crowded and it was exciting to see so many students, or incoming students engaging in conversation with teachers, and upperclassmen.
Many booths were set up for core classes like math, english, history and science. The teachers were very kind and up to answer any questions that were being asked. This also gave parents a better understanding and deeper insight of the workload and what their child’s upcoming school year might look like.
Almost every booth had its own touch. There was a display of work that was shown from previous students in the class, games set up and more.
Besides core classes, you could also find information about some of the electives that were offered. Whether it be psychology with Mrs. Leonard, Forensic science with Mrs. Jones, Dance with Mrs. Pittman, Leadership with Ms. Morse, or Yearbook with Mrs.Karwacki you could easily ask any questions you had and this helped a lot of students make some decisions and figure out what they would be involved in.
There was also a variety of booths set up for certain clubs that you could stop by at such as HOSA, with advisors Mrs. Rohr and Mrs Gerald had models of things from each body system and had a game to guess bones in the body.
Other clubs like DECA, SGA and Drama club were also set up.
Although this night was about getting more involved in school, there was a food truck to stop at by on your way out that seemed to be a really big hit.
Curriculum night was a successful, fun, night for parents and students to come out and learn more.
“I thought curriculum night was helpful,” said junior Caden McMillan. “I enjoyed meeting some of the teachers and learning about the classes I want to take next year.”
