On Friday, April 11th, the West Brunswick High School women’s varsity soccer team played to a 0-0 tie against Newton-Conover on their home field. Even though Newton-Conover made the long trip from Fayetteville, they came ready to play, and both teams worked hard and played strong defense.
In the first half, the Lady Trojans created some good chances. Junior Sadie Jones led the attack, with sophomores Grace Migliore and Londyn Fogel helping out in the final third. However, they couldn’t score before halftime. “This was a good test for us,” said injured player Mary Payton. “Even though we didn’t score, I’m proud of how we played together.”
In the second half, West Brunswick’s defense stayed solid, with captains Maya McKenzie and Brooklyn Coble leading the way. The shutout was another strong performance for the Lady Trojans’ defense, which has been steady all season. While the game ended 0-0, it showed the team’s teamwork and hard work. With a strong defense and a better offense, the Lady Trojans are ready for an exciting next part of the season.
