On Monday, October 6th, the first spirit day had finally arrived. The theme being “Sleeping Beauty”. Students were asked to wear their pajamas to school, as long as they were school appropriate for the day.
Many students were super creative with their outfits. Even the teachers joined in on dressing up and having fun.
Pajama sets, pajama pants, slippers, robes, and more all filled the hallways. This spirit day seemed to be super popular as in almost every class there were several students dressed up.
“I love pajama day,” said junior Marley Chandler. “Since we can’t wear pajamas to school because of the dress code, it was like a free day to be comfy.”
Many students claimed they dressed up or even participated in this theme because they got the chance to be comfy, and due to the new dress code, not getting to wear things like their pajama pants anymore.
The themes for the week were sponsored, and created by both SGA and Mrs. Dooley’s leadership class. The students came up with ideas for the themes, then casted their votes.
This spirit day theme was also a fun way for students to “destress” from the past weekend due to just having homecoming on Saturday where the theme was “Once Upon A HoCo”. Tying back to all the upcoming themes for this week.
Dressing up can be so exciting because it gives us a chance of freedom to be silly, unique, and fun. We can ditch the regular jeans and tee-shirt for something more comfortable, like today, or something festive for the other themes later in the week to also celebrate Halloween.
These themes are preparing everyone for the football game on Friday against New Hanover High School. The Trojans will take them on at 7:00 pm and hopefully take the win. The theme for the game is “Black out.” The crowd, student section, cheerleaders, and dancers are expected to dress up to support our team.
At the football game, the homecoming court will also get a chance to walk and represent their grade levels, as well as find out who got, King, Queen, Prince, and Princess for the senior and junior class.
