The Men’s Golf Team strives to improve their skills on the links and better the team’s connection with each other. In a sport that requires mental focus and stability, the athletes practice ways to remain consistent in their game.

Junior golf starter, Walker Soucek, feels he is pushing the team in the right direction for success.

“I’ve been practicing my shots on the range,” said Soucek. “I have been working mostly towards pushing my teammates to work harder and keep their focus.”

The golf players have potential for growth and are expected to make a great impact in the conference in coming years. Life-long golf player Berry Jarvis thinks he knows the key to finishing at the top of the conference next year.

“It’s the short game, man,” said Jarvis. “Putting and chipping are killing us right now, it’s definitely one thing that could put us at a much better shot in the conference play.”

Jarvis believes with a better work ethic, the team could improve dramatically.

“We’ve been lazy to be completely honest: we practice all of our shots, but not with much aim towards getting better.”

It is in the hands of these soon to be senior golfers to see where the team places next year. With a clear idea on what must be work on, the team believes that West could possibly gain another powerhouse sport.
