The Haunted Trail is a common Halloween tradition for families all over the world. It allows for a night filled of scares, suspense and laughter. It is a time where friends and family can come together to face their fears and create memories that will never be forgotten. However this year, West Brunswick is putting it’s own spin on this tradition by creating our first ever “Haunted Workshop” right on campus.
This project is being led by Construction teacher Mr. Rouleau, who teaches Construction Core, Carpentry I and Carpentry II. This semester Mr. Rouleau had two of his Construction Core classes work with his Carpentry II class in order to make his vision become a reality. These students have been working on this project for under a week, but have been making sure to use their class time wisely in order to construct all the props for this workshop.
The Haunted Workshop will include both an indoor and outdoor section. The experience will be completely self led which means that every student will guide themselves through the workshop with only a lantern to light the way. To add on to the dark and creepy sensation, students have been working on creating spooky props to add throughout the maze. Along with this, students have volunteered to act as scare actors to make the event more enjoyable.
“I’m excited for the Haunted Workshop,” said junior Kimberly Bart. “West doesn’t do these types of things a lot and it sounds like a fun and unique way to bring people together.”
This workshop will be available to students starting on Tuesday, October 28th and will be available all the way up to Halloween. It will be available everyday during flex, as well as after school til five, with the possibility of extended hours on Halloween.
Admission to the Workshop will be one dollar or a canned food item. Every dollar raised is going to be donated to the National Technical Honors Society and every canned food item will be donated to our local food shelf.
Ultimately, this Haunted Workshop is allowing students to learn while using their own creative aspect to put their own twist on a thrilling Halloween tradition.. Whether you like scares, want to support your classmates, or want to give back to the community, this event has something for everyone. Even if you aren’t one for thrills, this experience will allow you to try something new and let you be apart of a brand new school event. This student made project is only going to be available for a limited time and everyone is encouraged to stop by to see and support all the creativity and work that these students put in to make this Halloween tradition their own.
“I think students should go to this workshop because all the money and food raised is going to a good cause,” said junior Mackenzie Ward. “It’s also a great way for students to be involved in a school event and everyone has been working hard to create and put everything together, so it will definitely be worth going to.”
