The Lady Trojan soccer team is looking forward to a bounce-back season. The Lady Trojans lost over half of their starting lineup to graduation but have high hopes for the upcoming season, and hope to build off of a strong young core. The team still has two of the top players in the Mid Eastern Conference, Junior goalkeeper Joi Sturdivant and Junior midfielder Alex Adcock. The team also welcomes a new and experienced transfer Devin Simcox.
“I’ve been preparing for this season by playing club soccer and attending the series of workouts,” said Simcox. “I’ve played on varsity since freshman year and I was All Conference my sophomore year and I played club soccer since I was six.”
Many anticipated the team will face obstacles this coming season due to the loss of experienced players and the gaining of a new assistant coach, Mrs. Samantha Jones. Despite the odds not being in their favor, the team hopes to elevate their technique and strategy to improve upon last season.
The team as a whole aspire to obtain the most lucrative experience from this season whether it is to successfully achieve their team goals or make it to the playoffs that eluded them last season.
“One of the main things we need is to work together.” said Jessica Barba, a senior left forward. “We have to be aware of what we have and we have to work together through the obstacles.”
