Ashlynn Childers is a 16-year-old junior born right here in Supply, North Carolina. This is Childers’ second year in the West Wind, and she has grown interested in editing videos and designs. With a passion for cheerleading, a love for sports photography, and a very big dream for the future. Childers’ goal this year is to engage in more design for video and social media

When asked why she had joined West Wind, she shared that she saw football pictures and loved how you could see the emotion and the movement frozen in time–like you were there in the moment, even if you missed the game.

“My first semester in journalism, I was very overwhelmed and couldn’t quite get the hang of it till the last two weeks, and wanted to come back to show what I could do,” said Childers. “Now that I’ve got the hang of it and know what I’m good at, this class has become something I look forward to at the end of each day.”

As a proud member of her school’s varsity cheerleading team, Childers loves the challenges of learning new stunts and the adrenaline of Friday night games and building stronger bonds with her teammates, and the chance to be a positive role model for underclassmen.

While cheerleading and photography bring her excitement, she has her sights set on a future just as exciting. She plans to attend her first two free years at Brunswick Community College and start a few small side hustles, then attend North Carolina State University after figuring out her future path.

With a strong work ethic and a caring heart, Childers is well on her way to making a difference, whether she is cheering on her hometown football team, capturing unforgettable moments, or helping people smile brighter every day.
