Kody Bland is a senior here at West. This is his first year on the West Wind staff and he is ecstatic to be a part of such a wonderful crew. Bland has enormous aspirations to become successful beyond his high school years. Bland plans on attending North Carolina State University and majoring in some form of engineering. He also works at Duffers in Shallotte, along with playing both varsity football and baseball.
“Honestly, it is a lot to balance between school, sports, and work,” said Bland. “But my parents did a great job in instilling me with the confidence and determination to do my best in everything I do.”
Bland decided to join the West Wind because of his “great relation with Mrs. Saunders” and his growing interest in maybe one day being a sports analyst/journalist. He has always been interested in sports from the moment he was little, and enjoys critiquing and debating over teams and players.
After college, he plans on staying close to the area because of his love for the beach and wanting to stay near his friends and family. Bland has the grit and persistence to follow out his plans and live a lucrative life.
